Our AI reads the naming patterns of your trade from real business names, then writes the candidates. 10 names from $39, in minutes, each with the case for it. You make the call.
From over 900,000 real business names we read the naming patterns of your trade, then deliver 10 to 40 names selected from up to 200 candidates, each with the written case for it, in minutes, from $39.
The company is registered next week and the name is still "TBD". The shop sign is ordered and nothing sounds right. The domain search has become a nightly habit.
An agency wants thousands and three weeks. The free generators hand you the same forty words as everyone else.
SmartName exists for exactly that moment.
A list of names is impossible to choose from. A name with its origin and a clear argument for it is something you can judge, share with a partner, and defend to a client.
Figures shown are for the Premium plan. Light delivers 10 names in 5 directions (about 2 minutes); Standard delivers 25 names in 10 directions (about 5 minutes). Read the full process →
For every order, SmartName pulls the names of real businesses in your trade from a live set of over 900,000 names across the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland. It counts how long they are, whether the trade word comes first or last, which words are common and which are rising. Then it decides the directions. The result feels native to your industry, because the structure is borrowed from it.
The questionnaire asks for words you want in, words you want out, competitors to steer clear of, and the tone you want. A program checks every candidate against those rules, screens for offensive meanings in seven languages, and drops names that collide with well-known brands. What reaches you has already passed.
Each of the 10 to 40 names comes with its meaning and origin, a short tagline, and a written case of roughly 150 words: what it says to your customers, how it reads on a sign and in a URL, and why it fits the direction it belongs to. Once you choose, that text becomes the story you tell on your About page.

Free generators output names. SmartName delivers names with the reasoning: each one comes with its meaning, a tagline and a roughly 150-word case for it. Before writing, it reads statistics from over 900,000 real business names in your trade so the structure matches what customers already recognise, and a machine check enforces your avoid-words, must-words and competitor list. You get the case for each name, not just the name.
No. We deliver name candidates and the reasoning behind them; we do not run trademark or company-register searches. Before you commit to a name, check it with the USPTO (US), the UK IPO, CIPO (Canada), IP Australia or your national office, and search your local company register. We do screen out names that are identical to well-known brands, but that is not a legal clearance.
Anthropic's Claude. The Light plan runs on the current Claude Opus (Opus 5.5); Standard and Premium run on Anthropic's top model, Claude Fable 5.1. When a newer version passes our tests we switch automatically, and the model in use is always shown on the pricing page.
Once generation has started, no. The whole cost of an order is incurred at that moment. If our system fails to generate or display your names, you get a free regeneration or a full refund, your choice. The details are in the refund policy.
It will be said, typed and searched for years. Give it data, language and a reason. SmartName does the groundwork; you make the call.
