About SmartName
SmartName is an AI naming service run by ALTIRA, a company based in Dubai. It was built by a founder who had lost weeks to naming each of his own businesses, and it exists to deliver names with the case for each one, at a price a one-person start-up can pay. This page says who we are and what we promise.
The founder
SmartName was built by Fumihito Yoshioka. After university he joined a large IT company in Japan and spent years leading big software projects: the kind with many teams, long timelines and no room for a system that works only most of the time.
He then went independent and launched a series of businesses of his own: web services, e-commerce, and more recently AI products, working from several countries along the way. He now lives in Dubai, where ALTIRA is based and where SmartName is run.
Why SmartName exists
The night before one of those businesses launched, a notebook page was covered in crossed-out names.
"Sounds good" and "says what we do" pull in different directions. "Easy to remember" and "nobody else has it" rarely arrive together. And until the name is settled, nothing else moves: not the logo, not the cards, not the website, not the company registration. After launching several businesses, the pattern was clear. The weeks lost to naming were the most expensive weeks of every project.
So we built a system for that one job. It sets the direction from statistics of real business names, generates candidates, checks them by machine against the client's rules, selects the best, and writes the case for each. Four stages, each on a current AI model, with the checking done in the background so the customer sees only names that have already passed.
The other half of the job was price. Powerful tools tend to be expensive and complicated, and an agency quote in the thousands is simply not available to someone launching alone. SmartName is meant for the person who cannot pay an agency and should not have to settle for a free generator. Answer eighteen questions, pay once, get the names and the reasoning.
Three promises
- You are the one who names it. We deliver candidates and the case for each: the raw material for a decision. The decision is yours, and we never rank or score the names for you.
- We say which AI wrote it. Light runs on the current Claude Opus (Opus 5.5); Standard and Premium run on Anthropic's top model, Claude Fable 5.1. The model in use is shown live on the pricing page and will never be hidden.
- We say what we do not do. SmartName does not perform trademark or company-register searches. We point you to the USPTO, the UK IPO, CIPO, IP Australia or your national office, and we ask you to check before you commit.
About the logo
The four bars are the four stages SmartName goes through to produce a name: setting the direction, generating candidates, selecting, and writing the case.
The blue deepens from left to right, reaching SmartName's own blue at the far end. A faint idea gains an outline with each stage and turns into conviction. The darkest bar is the colour of the one name you keep.
All four bars lean slightly forward, because the moment a name is decided, the business starts to move.
The two pale strokes on either side are quotation marks. A name is not made to be written down; it is made to be said. The AI proposes what goes inside the marks. You decide.
